The World Beyond The River

At some point, this stopped being a safari painting.
It stopped being about elephants, lions, zebras and hippos. It stopped being about Africa.
 
Instead, it became a place.
 
A place I found myself disappearing into every day while I painted.
 
A place where the water glows with the colours of the sunset, where the animals gather peacefully by the river, and where nobody is in a rush to be anywhere else.
 
The real world can feel noisy sometimes. Busy. Demanding. Full of things pulling us in different directions all at once.
 
This painting became the opposite of that.
 
A quiet place.
A place to pause for a moment with a cup of tea. A place to let your mind wander. A place to notice the little details you missed yesterday and discover something new every time you look at it.
 
The more time I spent painting it, the more it felt like a world of its own. Not realistic, and never intended to be. The glowing sky, the gathering of animals, the peaceful river winding through the landscape all belong to an imagined place that exists nowhere except within this canvas.
 
And perhaps that is exactly why I love it.
 
For a little while, it allows us to step somewhere gentler.
Somewhere calmer.
Somewhere filled with warmth, colour and wonder.
 
This is the original painting.
There are no canvas prints.
There are no art prints.
There will never be another one.
 
Just this single canvas, painted by hand over many weeks, waiting for the one person who feels a connection to the world within it.
